Introduction

In neighborhoods everywhere pet containment systems are giving dogs the freedom to live how they want to. Finally taken off of a cumbersome leash, Daisy, Max, Buddy, and even Fido can be given the chance to roam their territory as they please. DOGS REJOICE!

A lot of people will purchase a pet containment system while focusing on the end result, not realizing that there is a certain amount of time that has to be put into training. It is great to think of your dog roaming around in the yard with not a care in the world as he or she pleases. -This is the end result- It is going to take a little bit of work to reach that point. Don’t Stress!!

You are NOT going to have to turn into a super perfect dog trainer to train your dog to your pet containment system. You will, however, have to be willing to spend some good, quality time with your dog outside (which should not be hard for true dog lovers!!). Mix it up with “Sparky” and always remember to try to make it a fun experience for both of you. Try not to think of this as work, but rather as a learning experience and a chance to work with your dog.

Preparation

Before beginning the training you will want to make sure that you have a good leash you are comfortable with. Some prefer a solid 4 or 6 foot leash, while others prefer to use a retractable. Either way, you will have to use a leash to have complete control of your dog. This is essential.

Make sure that you are going to have at least 4 days in a row you will be able to get your dog outside before you start. Now let’s get into the training.
